Meet the Doctor

Dr. Andrew Melchert got his initiation into chiropractic as a way of regaining and maintaining health at the age of 3. As an infant, he was afflicted with a problem in his left hip which necessitated the use of a brace and regular visits to the DuPont Crippled Children's Clinic, near Wilmington, Delaware. After two years of care from orthopedic specialists, a chiropractor came to the Melchert house to adjust his older brother. While he was there, he adjusted Dr. Melchert's hip, and fixed the problem.
Dr. Melchert holds a BA degree from Lehigh University, and studied French language and literature at the University of Strasbourg in France.


He earned his D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic) degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1989, which is the oldest and largest of the seventeen chiropractic schools in the United States. His extracurricular activities included study of extremity adjusting, physiotherapy, and Nimmo technique for muscles and soft tissues. Since graduation, he has studied Directional Non-Force Technique and is certified in Total Body Modification technique. After a two year associateship, he opened Capital Chiropractic Center in Richmond in 1992
